History/Purpose of The Adult Crisis Stabilization Center
The Adult Crisis Stabilization Center began serving clients in 2013 after the Black Hawk county realized that there was a population that would benefit from such a service. We began very small, eventually getting lisenced for a 10 bed facility. The ACSC is currently the only Crisis Center providing services of its kind in the entire nation. We take pride in serving our community as well as assisting those in need of a temporary place to stay while addressing their mental health needs.
To the community, the Adult Crisis Center provides an immediate solution for clients from environmental hazards as well as reduces the chance of indivduals self harming themselves or others. This allows other public facilities such as Emergency Rooms to not be congested with people who, although requiring some assistance, do not have accute physical needs that demand institutionalization. ACSC staff focus on making the ACSC experience a positive experience while clients seek assistance with their individual mental health needs.
All license standards of the State of Iowa for Adult Crisis facilities will be met. Legitimate deficiencies noted by the inspector will be remedied in a timely manner. ACSC capacity of 10 will not be exceeded for overnight stays.
